The Award-Winning K2 Project
WWHA own and manage a portfolio of over 11,500 homes throughout Wales. As part of their responsibilities to maintain the properties, their team of field-based engineers conduct Gas and Electrical safety inspections and surveys. These inspections, processed electronically and then updated on the back-office system to create a certificate – a process which required a high level of resource to keep up with demand.
A Collaborative Approach
Working in collaboration with WWHA, Velocity IT developed a digital solution to enable the field-based engineering team to generate gas and electricity compliancy certificates on a tablet device, following an inspection. The K2 build presented a solution that worked regardless of internet connectivity and enabled offline data entry and retrospective synchronisation of data with back-office systems.
The Innovative Result
Data from the completed forms is synchronised with the back-office system and further integrated into the Microsoft Dynamics platform. Certificates are automatically produced using the remote-captured data, removing any need for manual data entry or re-keying, both of which presented a time-constraint and elongated the process in the old process.
WWHA said “the process is now working in real-time and the time saved to produce the certificate has been noticeable, in particular the offline capability. The removal of the manual process has enabled both our field and office-based teams to be more productive.”
