Executive Summary
Cranfield University exists to create leaders in technology and management by working with businesses and government to deliver research, postgraduate education and professional development. In response to a time-critical request to adhere to rigorous H&S policy, Cranfield University enlisted the services of Velocity IT to automate the process of capturing, assessing and reporting health and safety risk assessments.
The Problem
Based on a comprehensive brief and analysis conducted by the University, Velocity IT deployed a solution within two-days that captured a Health and Safety playbook in a policy document, configured in a low-code platform.
The Solution
The new system enabled risk management to be centralised within one online system, allowing the users to easily log, assess and assign a risk rating to a risk.
- Excellent time to market for policy documents to be uploaded to the management system, akin to implementing a GDP management process
- Clear mitigation procedures in case of a hazard event happening
- Ease of access to risk register reports for periodic reviews, to quickly identify how particular risks are being handled and if the risk still exists
The Outcome
The implementation of the new system showcases the capability of a low-code platform and how an agile workflow-driven solution can be implemented at a rapid pace. The solution enables this large organisation to approach policy management in a consistent manner and in compliance with regulations.
